Back on my mat

here. now. on my mat.

I woke this morning full of peace and stillness. It was such a strong feeling and one that I wanted to carry with me throughout my day today.

I stepped on to my mat and took a moment to ground myself. I set my intentions. And I start to breathe and flow.

Breathe in. Breathe out. Breathe peace.

Yoga brings a lot of joy to my life. I love to practice daily. Sometimes I have a good session and get lost in it and time evaporates. And other times, I manage to grab a few minutes to practice or struggle to find my focus or make time to step on to my mat. Most importantly, I try to follow the flow of what my body needs and wants, whilst keeping the balance with what my day allows.

Over the last few months, I have struggled a little more to maintain my daily practice. I am owning up. Instead of this worrying me, I have just consistently stepped on to my mat when I can, and let the rest go. No sense in ‘beating’ oneself up about it. We have to flow with the natural rhythms of life. When we flow, life is easy. I keep reminding myself of this fact. And it is not only relevant to the yoga mat, but to life in general, of course.

Being here now in Hedingen has given my yoga practice a real kickstart again.  I am so happy to be able to attend my favourite Hatha Yoga classes at AirYoga again with my lovely yoga teacher, friend and soulsister C. It has been a blessing in disguise. Her gentle yet firm instruction, her sweet spiritual words of wisdom and the community of yoga spirit have given me the boost I needed. I feel it has reinvigorated my practice and made stepping on to my mat is so much easier again. I am grateful!

I came to yoga slowly and more recently in my life. I am a late starter, in my own words. However, I would not change this for a moment. It was a perfect addition to my spiritual journey. I love the path it has led me on; the physical exercise and improved flexibility of my body; the special friends that have come into my life through community and sharing yoga space; and the deepened awareness of my inner self, my breathing and my body. I still have a lot to learn on my yoga mat and path. I am open to all that flows to me. It really inspires me.

Today to end my practice, I add my gratitude. Gratitude for all the many and specific blessings in my life. I step off my mat with peace and stillness walking beside me today. And these few words of wisdom.

Spend some time alone every day. – His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

In. Out. Peace.

How do you experience peace in your life? Do you find time to be alone every day? Please add your thoughts.

with gratitude, Delicia

  1. I can feel the peace and stillness Delicia. It seems that being here now in Hedingen is adding what you need in the present moment to your spiritual space. I am happy you are flowing gently, stepping on to your mat to be alone for a little while, open to all what flows to you. That space is full of wonders, isn’t it? Carry them with you throughout your life.

In the last month yoga has been a daily practice for me. For sure I can feel the benefits coming from the practice, but I would say even more from simply allowing myself to be on my mat for as long as I wish and flow. Last week for the first time I completely lost sense of time and when I came back I realised that three hours of blessings were passed! Yoga practice is just one of the many blessings you brought into my life. My deepest gratitude Delicia for your sharing and for being with me on my yoga journey.
But there are also other ways I spend some time alone every day. One of them is through writing meditation. This is not always peaceful practice, but it does help me with dealing with emotions and learning the lessons life brings me. Another way is breathing and feeling the heart connections at the beginning and at the end of the day. I now do it regularly and the peace this practice brings is just amazing. It makes me welcome the day with ‘It’s a good day!’ and gently fall asleep with gratitude for all I have in my life. Following my feet and walking in nature, feeling the energy and being present by appreciating the beauty of all her gifts, is one more way of spending time with me that I really love and that always brings me great peace and stillness. Though this can also be wonderful time to share with soulsisters… you know that 🙂

My gratitude for this inspiring post Delicia. May you always flow gently. Namaste

    • Yes, that space is so full of wonders!! I am so happy you are gently flowing and following your self to find just what you need in your here and now. Thank you for sharing your practices of stillness with me and here. Magic happens as we make space in our life for it. This I know. This I know that you know. 😉

Wishing you magic and gentle flows Annalisa. Namaste

  2. Thank you for sharing this post. It has inspired me in many ways. There are a couple of things that I try to do regularly (juicing, cooking healthy) but recently I have been unable to cope with those tasks as my son requires more support for homework. And yes I have “beating” myself for failing on this… I will give it different thoughts from now own. Wishing you well.

    • It is great that you can support your son, though it does give you less time for your other tasks. I have discovered that there is no use in ‘beating’ oneself up about something, but to rather accept my now moments and enjoy these to the fullest. I wish you joy and peace in your now moments, whatever these are. I am so happy this inspired you and gratitude for sharing your thoughts here. Wishing you a happy weekend!
